Who are Football Africa?

Andy Howie

Andy

Project Leader, visionary, great finisher with both feet

The man with 'The plan', it's all Andy's fault this is happening. In true X-Factor style he's already been on quite 'a journey'. It's taken in meeting the Zambian High Commissioner, becoming a temporary PE Teacher to hundreds of students, and singing lead vocals to a charity performance of 'Listen To Your Heart' by Roxette.

Most looking forward to: "The football, I literally can't wait to see what kind of an impact people with footballs can make"

Least looking forward to: "the toilet situations, mosquitoes and the heat."

Justin Johnson

Justin

Team Captain, wind up merchant, moaner, defensive lynchpin

One of the first to think, 'Travelling, and playing footie everyday? Count me in!', without necessarily considering the ramifications of being 4 stone overweight and having a knee that breaks down more often then Amy Winehouse. Another that's found himself talking in school assemblies, doing 12hr football marathons, and rocking audiences with 'She's Like the Wind' by Patrick Swayze. 'You were welcome to that one West London'.

Most looking forward to: "Playing football everyday, seeing another part of the world, and learning about other cultures"

Least looking forward to: "Flying, absolutely every time, flying"

Ed Barnard

Ed

Team Vice-Captain, thinker, male model, midfield general (recently gave away two pens and got sent off in a five minute spell)

Whilst Ed sometimes seems to alternate between 'Deep thinker' and 'Away with the pixies', there's no denying he's thrown his heart and soul into this project. He quit his well-paid job (what are you going to do when you get back!! - sorry dude) and is deeply involved with all the fundraising, including the brutal 12hr football marathon and the School football extravaganza we put on in Cranford. Hell, he even created a project plan on Excel. In colour. That no-one has used.

Most looking forward to: Going back to South Africa. Playing footie in a World Cup Stadium. It will happen folks!

Least looking forward to: The Popobawa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popobawa - having read this I can only concur - JJ)

Charlotte Kennedy

Charlotte

Token Woman, easy to wind up (especially with sexism), goal attack

Charlotte came on board slightly later but has thrown herself into the project. As a sports teacher working with children everyday, it represents an opportunity for her to use those skills working with children less fortunate. She will also be looking to forge long lasting links to Africa through her school so generations to come can continue to help. She can also do the cleaning and ironing.

Most looking forward to:Teaching the drills from the manual and hoping it’ll have lifetime impact.

Least looking forward to: Toilets, bugs and 4 months of JJ’s constant digs at females – count to ten Charlotte, count to ten… and breathe…!(Shh, don’t tell Charlotte it’s just her I wind up – JJ)
